Davidson County Man Arrested for Felony Bigamy After Marrying Multiple Women

Harry Irvine Burdick Jr.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Davidson County man is facing felony bigamy charges after authorities say he married several women while still legally married to others.

Detectives began investigating 60-year-old Harry Irvine Burdick Jr. in April 2025 after receiving a report suggesting possible bigamy. During the investigation, deputies uncovered that Burdick had obtained three marriage licenses in Lincoln, Davidson, and Guilford counties. Records show that none of his previous marriages had been legally dissolved before the new ones were issued.

According to the sheriff’s office, Burdick’s actions appear to have been motivated by personal and financial gain. He was taken into custody on August 22, 2025, and charged with two counts of felony bigamy.

Authorities confirmed Burdick was released on a promise to appear in court, with his first hearing scheduled for September 22, 2025, at the Davidson County Courthouse.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims who were unknowingly married to Burdick. Anyone with information or who may have been affected is urged to contact Detective Foushee at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office at (336) 236-3365.
