A missing child was located safely Saturday morning in Davie County following an overnight search that involved multiple agencies, including several from Rowan County.
The search began around 2:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, when the Advance Fire Department Drone Team was dispatched to assist the Davie County Sheriff’s Office. The team flew more than 30 missions throughout the night, providing aerial support as ground units conducted searches.
Responding agencies included the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, Rowan County Rescue, Salisbury Fire Department, Kannapolis Fire Department, and Locke Fire Department. They joined a large number of regional partners, among them the Davie Emergency Management Division, Davie Rescue, Cornatzer-Dulin Volunteer Fire Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Iredell County Sheriff’s Department, North Carolina Highway Patrol (air and ground units), and North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
At approximately 7:45 a.m., just after sunrise, ground units located the child and safely reunited her with her family.
In a statement, the Advance Fire Department expressed appreciation for the assistance received.
“We are incredibly grateful for the many agencies that assisted in this mission,” the statement read. “Rowan County responders, along with our other partners, demonstrated the value of teamwork and dedication in serving the community.”
Officials credited the safe outcome to the coordinated efforts of both professional and volunteer responders across multiple counties.
