
RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A Guilford County Schools teacher has been arrested on charges of child exploitation following an investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Invictus Task Force.
Authorities confirmed that Christopher Tuft, 44, of Trinity, was taken into custody on Friday after investigators executed a search warrant. The investigation began after a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Tuft is facing one count of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He is currently being held at the Randolph County Jail under a $75,000 bond, with his first court appearance scheduled for Monday, Sept. 2.
Employment History
According to officials, Tuft worked as an exceptional children’s teacher at Simkins Elementary School in Guilford County. The school district confirmed he was suspended immediately on Friday following news of his arrest.
The Asheboro City Schools district also stated that Tuft was a former employee, but clarified that he is not currently employed with the system.
