Salisbury Man Extradited and Charged in 2022 Kannapolis Homicide

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A Salisbury man has been extradited to North Carolina to face charges in a 2022 fatal shooting in Kannapolis.

Isiah Michael Lobban, 21, was served with warrants for first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon on June 25, 2025. He had been serving time in South Carolina on unrelated charges since shortly after the incident.

The shooting occurred on June 22, 2022, at 601 S. Cannon Boulevard. Officers found 26-year-old Kenon Lamonte Jones with fatal injuries. Lobban, then 18, was quickly identified as a suspect, but was arrested in South Carolina weeks later on separate charges.

Now returned to North Carolina, Lobban is being held without bond at the Cabarrus County Jail. The arrest closes a three-year investigation into Jones’ death.
