Rowan County Detention Officer Assaulted by an Inmate

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (September 23, 2025) – On September 21, 2025, deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Rowan County Detention Center in reference to an active fight between an inmate and a detention officer.

 

 

Gabriella Nicolosi, an inmate who had just been brought in and was waiting to be booked in, was causing a disturbance by beating on the metal door in one of the cells. When detention officers opened the door to check on Nicolosi, she began assaulting one of the detention officers by punching and kicking the officer.

 

 

As more officers arrived to assist, Nicolosi was eventually restrained. She was transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center for evaluation, as it appeared that she was under the influence of an impairing substance. She was treated and released with no injuries.

 

 

All detention officers involved in the incident were evaluated by medical staff with only one officer requiring medical attention for minor injuries.

 

 

Nicolosi was charged with Felony Assault/ Physical Injury on Law Enforcement Officer. She was placed back into the detention center on a $50,000.00 secured bond.
