A warrant shows an 18-year-old Rowan County resident is facing several misdemeanor charges after deputies reported threats and an assault during an arrest on December 10.
According to the magistrate’s order, Lukus Taylor Harrington is charged with resisting a public officer, three counts of communicating threats, and assault on a government official. Deputies said Harrington refused to comply with commands during a disturbance investigation, which led to the resisting charge.
The warrant states Harrington threatened multiple deputies while in custody. In each instance, the threats were made after handcuffs were removed or during transport, and deputies reported they believed the threats were likely to be carried out.
Harrington is also accused of attempting to bite a deputy while being placed in a patrol vehicle, leading to the assault charge. Deputies said the officer was performing official duties at the time.
