Salisbury police investigate homicide after man found dead

SALISBURY, N.C. — Salisbury police are investigating a homicide after a man was found unresponsive Thursday morning near a home in Salisbury.
Officers responded around 11:30 a.m. Jan. 22 to a report of an unresponsive man in bushes near the intersection of South Shaver Street and East Horah Street, police said.
Police found an adult male at the scene. Salisbury Fire Department crews and Rowan County EMS responded and pronounced him dead.
Authorities identified the victim as Landis Darnell Glaspy, born March 17, 1971. Police said Glaspy had been unhoused and living on the streets of Salisbury for several months. Family members have been notified.
Based on preliminary findings, police said investigators are treating the death as a homicide. Detectives with the Salisbury Police Department are actively working the case.
The investigation continues. Police said more details will follow as the case develops.
