Sheriff’s deputies responded early Sunday to assist the North Carolina State Highway Patrol on Neel Road after a vehicle linked to an Iredell County shooting crashed into a tree, killing the suspect. Investigators said the suspect left the shooting scene in Iredell County and drove to Cleveland in Rowan County, where he went to a friend’s house and swapped vehicles.
