North Forsyth High School student killed, 18-year-old injured in campus stabbing

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — One student died and an 18-year-old student was injured Tuesday after a stabbing during a fight at North Forsyth High School, authorities said.


Deputies said two students were stabbed during the altercation. One student suffered fatal injuries and died after collapsing in a hallway. The 18-year-old student had lacerations to both hands and was taken to a hospital for treatment.


The incident happened late Tuesday morning inside the school. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Winston-Salem police responded after the school resource officer called for immediate assistance. Investigators are reviewing video linked to the confrontation.


Officials have not released the name or grade of the student who died. No further details have been released about the circumstances leading up to the fight.


The school district said the loss is heartbreaking and announced North Forsyth High will close Wednesday. Crisis support teams will be available for students and staff.


Deputies said there is no ongoing threat. The investigation is active.



Update:


The student killed Tuesday in the stabbing at North Forsyth High School has been identified as Cameron Graham, 16. Police said Graham died from his injuries after the attack.
