A warrant outlines felony charges against an 18-year-old Kannapolis resident accused of opening fire during the Concord Christmas tree lighting ceremony, an incident that caused injuries and triggered panic among crowds gathered for the event.

According to the document, Nasir Bostic is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and felony inciting a riot. The warrant states Bostic used an AK-47-style rifle to shoot and injure another person during the ceremony.

Investigators say the shooting happened while large crowds were present for the annual holiday event in downtown Concord. The gunfire caused people to flee the area, and the disturbance led to property damage estimated at more than two thousand dollars.

The inciting-to-riot charge stems from allegations that Bostic encouraged and participated in conduct that escalated the violence and chaos at the scene. Authorities reported that multiple individuals were involved in the unrest as the situation unfolded.

Bostic was later taken into custody under the authority of the Concord Police Department. He was served with the felony warrant and informed of the charges. The case will proceed through Cabarrus County District Court.
