Motorcycle Fleeing Rowan County Checkpoint Crashes; Second Rider Still Wanted

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (November 15, 2025) – On Saturday, November 15, 2025, at approximately 10:36 pm, deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a traffic checkpoint at the intersection of Old Beatty Ford Road and China Grove Road. The checkpoint was being conducted in response to citizens’ complaints involving, traffic violations at that intersection.

While conducting the checkpoint, two motorcycles approached and were signaled by deputies to stop. Both motorcyclists refused to stop and instead, made a right turn onto China Grove Road and accelerated. Deputies then pursued the fleeing suspects.

At the intersection of Daughtery Road and Bostian Road, one of the fleeing motorcyclists wrecked and was subsequently pinned underneath the front of the pursuing deputy’s vehicle. Fire and EMS crews arrived on scene and were able to free the suspect from under the deputy’s vehicle. The suspect was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The second motorcyclist continued to flee and at some point, turned, and came back by the intersection of Old Beatty Ford Road and China Grove Road, where the initial pursuit started. Troopers with the NC Highway Patrol engaged in the pursuit at that time, and the suspect continued to flee eventually getting onto I-85. At some point, the pursing units lost sight of the motorcycle, and it was later located at exit 47 in Cabarrus County where it had been abandoned by the suspect.
