Winston-Salem police investigating early morning homicide on Indiana Avenue

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Winston-Salem Police Department is investigating a homicide after a man was fatally shot early Sunday morning.

Officers responded at 4:18 a.m. April 12 to a reported shooting in the 2800 block of Indiana Avenue. Upon arrival, they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was later identified as Calvin Samuel Johnson, 34. Emergency medical personnel transported Johnson to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Investigators have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or any potential suspects.
