WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Two brothers from Winston-Salem face felony charges after police said each robbed the same bank in separate incidents weeks apart.
Police identified John Andrew Alcala, 35, as the suspect in a Nov. 24 robbery at First Bank on Knollwood Street. Investigators said a man entered the bank, took money from a teller and fled. No injuries were reported.
Detectives later connected the case to Alcala and arrested him Dec. 31. Police said he was treated for a medical issue before being booked into the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center on Jan. 3. He was charged with felony common law robbery.
Authorities said Alcala’s brother, Aaron James Alcala, 31, was arrested earlier in connection with a Dec. 8 robbery at the same bank. Police said money was taken in that incident and no one was hurt. He was charged with felony robbery.
Both cases remain under investigation. Police asked anyone with information to contact the Winston-Salem Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
