Cabarrus County deputies seize 30 pounds of meth, two arrested in trafficking case


CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office announced the conclusion of a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking investigation Wednesday, Jan. 7.


The Vice/Narcotics and Crime Reduction Unit led the investigation into meth distribution inside Cabarrus County. The operation ended with the seizure of about 30 pounds of methamphetamine.


Deputies arrested two people on trafficking charges.


Authorities identified the suspects as Guillermo Martinez-Herrera, 22, of Columbus, Ohio, and Alexis Herrera-Roofe, 26, of Columbus, Ohio.


Both suspects were arrested Jan. 7 and placed in the Cabarrus County Detention Center. Each received a $1,000,000 secured bond. Deputies said both are also held under Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainers due to immigration status.


The sheriff’s office said the case involved coordinated work across units and focused on disrupting meth distribution networks operating inside the county.


The investigation remains active. Additional details were not released.
