The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office is honoring the life and service of K9 Storm, a retired police dog who recently died at the age of 15.
K9 Storm served the sheriff’s office for five years alongside his handler, Deputy Sheriff Lennie Rivera. During his career, Storm was trained in apprehension, narcotics detection, tracking, article searches and obedience. Officials said his work supported deputies in daily operations and contributed to public safety across the county.
After retiring from service, K9 Storm spent his remaining years enjoying a well-earned retirement. Although his active duty ended years ago, the sheriff’s office said his impact on the agency and the community continues to be felt.
In a statement, the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for K9 Storm’s service and sacrifice and thanked Deputy Rivera for his partnership and dedication throughout Storm’s career.
K9 Storm is remembered as a loyal partner, trusted teammate and valued member of the sheriff’s office family.
