CABARRUS COUNTY, North Carolina — A Concord man is charged with second-degree kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon after police say he unlawfully confined a woman and threatened her with a handgun, according to a warrant filed in Cabarrus County.
The warrant alleges the incident occurred on or about Dec. 2. Officers accuse the man of kidnapping a woman over the age of 16 without her consent and holding her for the purpose of ransom.
He is also accused of assaulting the woman with a Smith & Wesson SD9 2.0 handgun by circling her vehicle with the gun in his hand and letting the air out of her tires.
Concord police arrested the suspect and he later waived his probable cause hearing, which was scheduled for Dec. 3 in Cabarrus County District Court.
