Landis Police Search for Suspects After Shots Fired at Officers Following Vehicle Chase

In Landis, N.C., around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, October 17, officers from the Landis Police Department tried to stop a vehicle on South Chapel Street close to East Ryder Avenue due to suspected careless driving and speeding.


When the driver did not stop, officers started a pursuit. The vehicle being chased eventually collided with a utility/power pole at the junction of East 30th Street and South Chapel Street.


Following the crash, the occupants of the vehicle reportedly shot at officers and then ran away on foot. Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries during the incident. Authorities have labeled the occurrence as an isolated one and have assured that there is no current danger to the public.


Investigators are actively searching for the suspects and urge anyone with any information to reach out to Sergeant Watts at 704-857-2129. Additional information is not readily accessible, and the investigation is still ongoing.
