Lexington Woman Accused of Financial Card Fraud in Rowan County

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A Lexington woman is accused of defrauding a man out of more than $4,200 and stealing his debit card and cellphone, according to a warrant issued by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Courtney Dawn Hearne, 33, is charged with financial card fraud, financial card theft, and misdemeanor larceny. Investigators say that between Oct. 27 and Nov. 17, Hearne allegedly used a debit card belonging to the victim to obtain goods and funds totaling $4,233.23.
The warrant states Hearne is also accused of taking the victim’s debit card without consent and using it for financial transactions. In a separate charge, she is accused of stealing a Motorola Razr cellphone valued at $800.
Hearne waived her probable cause hearing after her arrest on Nov. 25. The case remains under investigation.
